Daily Monstrosities

Throughout history, monsters have been molded in the image of our fears and confined to dark and marginal territories. Associated with punishment, error, and condemnation, they have been projected out of the social space as that which should be avoided and kept at a distance. However, this gesture of exclusion has never made them disappear. On the contrary, that which is repressed or silenced persists as a latent presence, revealing deep tensions in the way we construct normality, identity, and belonging.

Daily Monstrosities investigates this everyday dimension of the monstrous, proposing a shift in perspective: instead of distant creatures, monsters emerge as intimate, ambiguous, and recognizable figures. Initiated in August 2016 as a series of illustrations produced daily, the project expanded to include interventions in urban spaces in more than 10 countries, as well as audiovisual works in the form of animation and a site-specific piece for the exhibition Olho-míssil(2016).
