Creations, Potions and Rebellions: For a Decolonial Feminism
Collective exhibition at the La Bonne cultural centre (Barcelona) – 09 April to 08 May 2026
Creations, Potions and Rebellions: For a Decolonial Feminism was born as an exercise in historical reparation and visual resistance. We seek not only to highlight the scars left by colonialism, slavery, and patriarchy, but also to propose art as a language that enables healing and sovereignty over one’s own body and territory. In this way, we do not allow ourselves to be carried away by the memories of oblivion; we experience the body as a territory of resistance and create spaces of alliance and care that challenge imposed borders.
The exhibition featured four works by artists from different countries, with the piece Hábito Penitencial Perpétuo (Perpetual Penitential Habit) standing out after being selected through an international open call by the LEAP – Legacy in Progress project. Co-funded by the European Commission, LEAP is an initiative that promotes critical reflection on colonial legacies and their contemporary repercussions, organising exhibitions across various European cities. This exhibition was developed in response to the theme “Subjugation of Women and Gender Bias”, one of the project's central pillars.
