Brixtia

A multimedia project that investigates the figure of the witch and its role as a political body, historical memory, and space of female resistance.

After a long period investigating the monstrous feminine, I decided to focus on the figure of the witch as a symbol of the deviant woman and her historical repression. I became interested in the history of Lusophone witches to understand the context that precedes me as a Brazilian woman living in Portugal. The themes of colonization, tradition, generational trauma, religious syncretism, and popular expression became the focus of my practical investigation, which today encompasses embroidery, ceramics, tiles, installations, animation, and illustration.
